Technical Difficulties II

Our good friends at Acme Mortgage and Loan have decided that our humble blogsite didn't have enough comments. To help us out, they've graciously spammed the site with 52 mildly inspirational musings like, "Great color scheme on this site!" and "Thanks for helping beginners like me!" Each comment is then linked to a site promising a 6.2% APR mortgage on my something or other.

After a few minutes of searching for ways to remedy this, I found that Blogger allows a comment moderation function that requires everybody to re-type some squiggly letters prior to commenting on our site. Hope this isn't too big of a hassle.

PS: Note the NEW Spam World Cup Commemorative tin, as it were, has finally arrived. Get collecting!

PPS: Also note the new Spam® Jingle, courtesy of Spam® UK:

SPAM® Up and get out the can,
SPAM® Up just to feed your man,
SPAM® Up ‘cause it’s great outdoors,
SPAM® Up when you could eat a horse,
SPAM® Up for a special tea,
SPAM® Up for an anniversary,
SPAM® Up for the taste of it,
SPAM® Up and be proud of it.

Huh? Spam® "when I could eat a horse"? Is that to say that eating Spam® is a good substitute for horse? or that if I were hungry enough to consume an entire horse that somehow a 6oz. can of Spam® could satisfy my horse-sized cravings? Either way, I'm willing to bet that I'd gladly slaughter and consume seventeen shetland ponies to satisfy my shetland-pony-sized cravings before cracking open one can of the gelatinous pork/ham amalgamate.

And wait, if you notice the description on the can, why do we need to define Spam® as both pork and ham? Isn't ham, pork? I suppose "chopped snout, hoof, entrails and ham" didn't make it past the marketing department.

So you can get the full flavour of the Ad Wizards' genius, I've linked to the Spam® song and video (notice the true Spam®anova serving a beautiful Spam® salad over a romantic, candle-lit anniversary dinner, so classy):

Use for Gnome Statue: Number 257

Here is friend of ours' kid and their yard gnome. I must admit, I take a bit of personal pride on this one. Not only does this kid repeat my name like its going out of style, but she apparently likes to imitate my less seemly habits.

A Summer without Camp...

isn't really a summer at all. I know that I should have absolutely no complaints about my current situation. We have already had amazing opportunities to travel and to enjoy the great city of Zurich. And, for as much as I miss family and friends back in the States, it has been a good place for us to take our first steps yoked together. (Hmm, that is sorta like a 3-legged race which is definitely campy...) But where is the zip line in Zurich? When do we get to have the hay ride? How have I made it to mid-July without catching a fish, sleeping in a bunk bed, or singing any ridiculous songs that involve clapping or dancing around?? (Ok, I've done some of the singing but only at Coy and he doesn't even like it!) The point is that I miss my kids back at Multi-National Ministries. And I miss camp- it was never easy but always good. (It seemed to get easier though after that first year when every one of my kids got in fist fights with other campers, even my girls!) Here are a few pictures that explain why there are pieces of me that feel like summer hasn't actually arrived yet:

If anyone in Zurich wants to challenge me and Coy to a chicken fight at the lake, I might feel better!

Here are a few more shots from our Greek holiday. Plenty of time relaxing, trying out the local cuisine, and hanging out with friends.

Riding a moped is like...

Who said riding a moped isn't sexy? Here I am proving to the doubters that 50cc's can definitely turn on the ladies.

Preparing to hit the Hellenic highway on the island of Mykanos. Boy, that's exciting!

Translation: We were in Athens last weekend and took a few moments to visit the national museum of antiquity. Pierre has always been quite the fan of Hellenic mythology (as for us, our 6th grade year of Edith Hamilton was more than enough). He couldn't resist getting up close and personal with one of the Olympians himself. That's Poseidon there preparing to hurl his Trident into the Aegean sea. We might add that museum security wasn't particularly happy with this photo op.

We took the picture quickly.

Italian Recycling

The Swiss are quite serious about recycling, which is in sharp contrast to the Italian style. This is a partioned Italian trash can in the Milan airport.

Its about as organized as the Alitalia flight desk.
